FOOD SIM # 20 GINGERBREAD COOKIE 🍪❄️🎄

Commonly mistaken as his Father, Jack Frost, Gingerbread Cookie is one of the sons of Father Winter himself. Longing to make a name for himself and wanting to get away from his father’s shadow, Gingerbread Cookie has been traveling around the earth to learn more about himself and what his purpose on life could be. Being an immortal spirit has its perks as he’s been traveling around 100 years by now but so far, he hasn’t achieved much of anything. On one particular Christmas Eve however, he just happened to hear a certain father’s wish for his daughter to be with him every Christmas. While he couldn’t bring the dead back to life, Gingerbread Cookie decided to grant the man his wish the only way he could, through transferring the girl’s soul into a doll. Ever since he did this, every Christmas Eve, he peeps around this certain family just to check on them. However, on one particular Christmas, he saw that the doll was alone and was looking quite lost. Against his better judgment, he asked her if she would like to accompany him on his travels and she happily agreed. From then on, the two would soon become best friends and would help one another learn and grow as they roam through the earth as immortal beings.

You guys would not believe the glow-up this sim had in his initial creation xD I’m glad he turned out really well now and I’m definitely in love with the way he looks. I also think his real name would be something like Wendell. But before anyone asks, he was mainly inspired by Jack Frost (Rise of the Guardians) and Howl (Howl’s moving Castle.) And before anyone asks, yes the gingerbread stuff is one of my upcoming works and despite what happened, I will release the download soon.

Chapter 37: Briella’s Winterfest Baking 24: Gingerbread People

Sul Sul, Gerbits. We are going to be making yet another Rosanna Pansinno recipe. It kinda is a given that I am using a lot of her recipes, because in my humble opinion were my two major Winterfest gifts. Also, everyone in my family knows that if I like a particular cookbook, I am going to use it A LOT. 

So today we are going to be making her Gingerbread Men or people because for whatever reason I could not find my Gingerbread man cookie cutter. I found two other sims like cookie cutters, which was a Ginger-lady and a dough-boy. Even though I knew that we did, in fact, own a Gingerman cutter.

For this recipe, you are going to need: flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, salt. Butter or margarine, Brown sugar (light or dark) the only difference is going to be in the color, there is no taste difference. 1 egg, molasses, red hot candies or chocolate-covered candies. 

This is the best icing that I have ever made using this recipe. You will need egg whites, Powdered sugar, cream of tartar, honey (omit if you don’t have it on hand, just use vanilla) salt, and vanilla extract. 

In a medium-sized bowl, you are going to whisk together your dry ingredients. Which consists of flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.

In a larger bowl, you are going to beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy with an electric mixer, for about 3 to 5 minutes.

You are going to mix in the egg and molasses.

On low speed with your mixer, you are going to mix in half of the flour mixture. Then you are going to repeat this until it is all combined.

Gerbits, the next thing you are going to do is shape the dough into a disk and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate it for 3 hours. For this, it helps if you shape the dough into sections. It is easier to work with, this way.

With the power of Simstube magic, we have some dough already chilled. You are going to preheat the oven now, to 350 degrees. Line 2 of your cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Lightly flour your counter top or kitchen table, or where ever you are going to be working with the dough. Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut out the gingerbread men with the cookie cutters, placing them 1 inch apart.

The recipe says to freeze the cookies until they are firm. However, I did not do this step because I left them to sit overnight. And they were still kind of cold when I put them in the oven. But according to the recipe, you are going to freeze them for about 15 minutes.

Again, the recipe says to bake them for 10 minutes, or until they are firm to the touch. However, I started baking them at 8 minutes. Adding time is always acceptable because you can not take away time. 

While the cookies are still warm, you can press the candies in the center of cookies for buttons.

Let the cookies cool for about 2 minutes on the baking sheets. Then you are going to transfer them to a cooling rack so that they can cool completely. 

As the cookies are cooling you can make the icing. In a medium bowl, you are going to beat the whites, powdered sugar, and cream of tartar with an electric mixer for 5 to 6 minutes.

Next, you are going to beat in the honey, salt, and vanilla until it is smooth, which will take about 1 minute. 

Now is the fun part. Consuela came into the kitchen and helped me make some beautiful and unique gingerbread people. Some could say that these gingerbread people are out of this world and no I am not talking about Sixam. I am talking about another outer world, that no sim has explored...yet.

 I don’t want to take any credit for this recipe. This recipe is from the Baking all-year-round cookbook by Rosanna Pansinno. She is an amazing baker, and if it wasn’t for her then I wouldn’t have started baking. I hope you gerbits liked this recipe. See you next time! Vadish, Dag Dag!

Gingerbread Cookies

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon salt

12 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup packed dark brown sugar

1 large egg

3/4 cup molasses

Red Hots Candy or Chocolate covered candies (M&Ms)

Royal Icing

Royal Icing

3 large egg whites

4 cups powdered sugar

¼ cream of tartar

1 teaspoon honey

¼ salt

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the cookies:

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg, and salt.

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 3 to 5 minutes. 

Mix in the egg and molasses.

On low speed, mix in half the flour mixture, then repeat until well combined.

Shape the dough into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 3 hours.

Preheat oven 350. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. 

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a ¼ inch thickness. Cut out gingerbread men using the cookie cutter and place them 1 inch apart on the baking sheets. 

Freeze the cookies for 15 minutes.

Bake until the cookies are firm to the touch and look dry, about 10 minutes.

While the cookies are still warm, gently press 3 red hots down the center for the buttons.

Let cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

For the icing:

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat the egg whites, powdered sugar, and cream of tartar until thick and smooth, 5 to 6 minutes.

Beat in the honey, salt, and vanilla until smooth, about 1 minute.

Time to decorate

Make the royal icing and scoop into a decorating bag fitted with a #3 tip.

Pipe eyes, mouths, and trim details onto the gingerbread men.

Set up:

♡ Must use Pose Player & Teleporter Statue

♡ In build mode, place 1 x Gingerbread House and 2 x Teleporter Statues in front edge of kitchen counter (see picture for visual instructions).

♡ In play mode, pause game: pick the poses.

♡ In play mode, unpause game so the two sims begin their animated poses simultaneously.
